Completely bullshitting a hypothesis here, but: depending on what you mean be "slight", it might be possible that the loss in weight is due to the fact that the patient isn't actively taking in air anymore - and air/gases do have some sort of weight. But since you said that this difference was only observed in 1 out of 20 patients tested...

Also, I feel like that trying to measure the physical, tangible, quantifiable weight of a theoretical "soul" is akin to trying to figure out how much thoughts weigh.
