What I fear most, I think, is the death of the imagination . . . If I sit still and don't do anything, the world goes on beating like a slack drum, without meaning. We must be moving, working, making dreams to run toward; the poverty of life without dreams is too horrible to imagine. |
Reileen - undergrad - artist - writer - pianist - singer/songwriter - bibliophile - paganostic - south sider - flip-am - intellectual? |
Reileen. That's me. 'Sup. Undergrad. Currently attending DePaul University. Majoring in art and design. Artist. My style is heavily anime-influenced. I usually work on the computer with Adobe Photoshop and an eight-year-old Wacom tablet. I do, however, enjoy traditional media such as pastels and paints, even though I fail rather impressively at them. For information on commissions, click here! Writer. I usually write prose and song lyrics, but occasion I delve into poetry. My main genre is fantasy, and I've done stuff in or am planning to do stuff in regular fantasy, urban fantasy, and science fantasy. Pianist. I've played piano since 3rd grade, but I don't have much to show for it except an apparent penchant for sight reading. And maybe a rambling rendition of Mozart's Rondo alla Turca. Singer/songwriter. A new side of myself I've just discovered. Naturally, I currently suck at it. But I'm trying. Bibliophile. My mom claims I was reading books at a little over a year old. As with all parental claims of childhood precociousness, this one is subject to cynicism. But I do remember always liking to read. My tastes tend towards fiction, particularly fantasy and sci-fi, but I'll give almost anything a try. Paganostic. I'm a Hellenic Polytheist with an affinity for Artemis, but I'll always have a skeptical side. Also, Hermes has been poking at me lately. South Sider. I'm from the South Side of Chicago. No, I don't give a shit who wins either the World Series or the Superbowl, thank ye kindly. But the South Side still rocks, you know. Because I'm from there. Q.E.D. Flip-Am. Filipino-American. You can't deny the Pinay! Intellectual? ...well, I can get by. |
1. I tend to swear. A lot. As a matter of fact, I find it highly amusing. If you don't see the hilarity in four-letter words, you probably don't want to friend me. 2. While it probably won't show up as often as my penchant for swearing, I also have a tendency for off-color humor. If this makes you blush, you probably don't want to friend me. 3. I am pro-choice. I am pro-gay marriage. If any of these ideas raises your blood pressure, you probably don't want to friend me. 4. I mostly talk about frivolous things on here, such as books, my life, video games, anime, and the interwebs. If you're looking for serious business, you probably don't want to friend me. (However, while I lack the ability myself to make thoughtful, intelligent, and insightful posts, I do have the ability to link to places where such posts are located.) 5. Anyone who comes on here just to be a jackass either to me or my friends gets banhammered without apology. |
