I've only had a chance to give the "death of anime" links a good readthrough at this point (I'm off to do some cleaning in a minute), but I gotta say, I can't help but wonder if pirating anime is similar to pirating music: Michael Geist has linked to a few studies recently that show people who download music actually buy more than their non-downloading counterparts. Which makes sense to me: I'm far more likely to buy a CD I already know is good, rather than take a risk on something I might only like two tracks on.

Of course, I haven't bought anime for years, but that's because most of the series I like nowadays don't have English/Region 1 releases. -_-;; I probably should save up and buy Fullmetal Alchemist sometime, though, because I really enjoyed that show back in the day.

Being out of the loop, anime-wise, though, I'm probably wrong to compare anime downloading to music-downloading, so the usual grain of salt thing applies....
