So I've just found out that my 28-year-old cousin living in the Philippines is marrying a 75-year-old middle-class Filipino immigrant who lives in Long Beach, CA.

Okay, look, if you're going to marry old to get to the land of the free shit, at least marry rich, too!

I've been indulging in a lot of new music lately, almost to the point of being a glutton. One of my favorite Japanese bands, Yousei Teikoku, just released a new 7-track album called metanoia in November, but artists that I'm mostly new to include Poe, Blink-182, Flogging Molly, and Avenged Sevenfold.

I also have almost 10GB of music on my external hard drive, and I still have to rip songs (like the entire Golden Sun soundtrack) to it! Awesomesauce.

every step that I take is another mistake to you

You mentioned listening to Blink-182--have you tried Angels & Airwaves yet? It's a newish group started up by the lead singer of Blink-182; there's an album of theirs up on [livejournal.com profile] some_day_music on the Western Music Post of Epic Doom. I dunno how similar the two bands' sounds are, but it's worth a shot, I suppose?

I have not tried them yet, but I will thanks to your rec! *as if she needs more music to DL*

regarding music:

omgz, blink 182 ... ah, i used to have a major love thang for them. :-) in addition to the above mentioned angels & airwaves (which i find a tad ... over dramatic), there's +44 (plus forty four) which is the band from the other 2 blink 182 members. it's a lot better than a&a, imho. ^_^

i cringe at the thought of a 28 year old marrying a 75 year old. that's almost 50 years of an age difference. o.O well, as long as they're both happy, good for them, i suppose.

Even if they were both truly happy, though, it still worries my family because there's no telling how long this guy will live, and if he dies early in the marriage, we don't know if his family is going to accept her, you know? And she's not even a nurse, so a job isn't necessarily set in stone for her. As I understand it, it's a very problematic situation. :/
